Water like any other elementalist line shows greater effectiveness when combined with another attribute line. I've found water snares and fire/earth AoE to be an effective combo.

Back in prophecies, before the AI AoE update, I found water eles to be amazing in PvE, simply because of Maelstrom. Now, I'm not sure (haven't played one since then), but with snares aplenty, Maelstrom might be OK, although VERY expensive.

Shatterstone + Vapor Blade with mesmer enchant removals looks to be a fun build as well.

Water is good as a second element, but in PVE you want to have some damage. Snares are good and all, but without damage as an elementalist you don't get anywhere in PVE. (Earth is better for PVE support as a result)

Then again, if cynn insists on fire storm, insist on deep freeze

All of which I agree with, having tried valiently to run a water build through Factions, but the damage you need is just not there. If only Vapor Blade didn't wimp out in the presence of enchantments!

ANet needs to review water in light of PvE.

Why? It's already the best attribute line. Freezing gust puts it over the top.

I run all four elements...not at the same time..

I played with water up to the Kodash Bazaar I think....worked great on Heket...they got OMGWTFBBQPWNd.

I mix in a secondary skill into my water build for some extra, armor ignoring damage...however I do get flamed for doing so by people...apparently you're not supposed to use your secondary skills.

I tried giving Zhed Shatterstone and not much happened. I love him however, with Ice Spikes and Gust.

the water line is far from useless lmho...
snaring is awsome for both PvE and PvP, it's obvious in PvP while in PvE it helps a lot especially with nukers or other DoT and just to keep aggro...
and now with the new elites the water line can even spike Shatterstone->Vapor Blades is a pretty nice spike vs low armor targets, just remove enchantments to make sure Vapor Blades does its full damage...
also, you can have a pretty high armor with water enchantments not just earth: armor of frost, armor of mist(also speed boost), frigid armor(immune to burning)
